Crimson Ikat Tunic is Finished. What's next?

Hi folks, here I go again posting a short note. Almost three weeks had passed since my last post, so did the progress of crimson ikat tunic. There were several important situation made sewing almost impossible, even simple blogging. Well, you know when priorities shift and you are obliged to do what is right. Although running my small business has been on top of the list, I just can't put aside people who are really close to me when they are in need of help. So, I dedicated my time to help them. That is how finishing the project got delayed.

Anyway, the crimson tunic is done. Phew, finally! See the picture below and compare the outfit with original fabric (in my last post). What do you think? Does the end result bear beauty same with the fabric once had?

Next Project

So, here's another quick update. I have this ikat which was made in Jepara City, on north coast of Java Island.

The fabric is handwoven with cotton threads. It has gorgeous crimson color as background. The color you see here is as nearly as the original one (I have tried the best I could to do digital processing, but I think I need more practice to utilize the software. That's another story :D )

The fabrics has slightly darker crimson background.

This square-cropped is digital Lomo version and doesn't best represent the original. I just couldn't resist not playing with digital manipulation.

Well, I am ready to create another lovely handmade tunic from this ikat. If you wish to see or even purchase the final product, or another products I had made, please visit my store at Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/mylalitastyle).

Thanks for looking.[]

Parang Pattern

In my last post, I promised to show you Parang Batik I currently own. So, here are the photos:

First two photos are new batik fabric. The pattern is a variation of Parang pattern. This lovely batik is special because it was dyed with organic coloring.
